Gas Guzzler Garners Gobs o' Green For GHG Group
By John O'Dell September 25, 2007
This month's auction of the customized Hummer H2
owned by Black Eyed Peas vocalist Fergie (aka Stacy Ann Ferguson) raised $64,191 that has been donated to Global Green USA
to help fund its efforts to battle global warming.
As important as the cash, perhaps, is that the auction drew more than 960,000 unique visitors to the eBay Giving Works auction site. Thats a record for an eBay event charity event handled by Los Angeles-based Auction Cause.
So not only did Global Green get a bagful of cash, nearly a million people who came to the auction site were exposed to its message and learned that Auction Cause can do a pretty good job of fund raising for charities and non-profit groups...
Eric Gazin, president of the three-year-old company, said that 100% of the auction proceeds went to Global Green. He said his firms fees were covered by a separate donation from one of the groups supporters.
The week-long auction also ended up removing one big gas guzzling, greenhouse-gas emitting SUV from U.S. roads.
Thats right, the ex-Fergie Hummer is leaving the country.
The winning bidder, who so far has not been identified, is shipping the car home to the Republic of Estonia, a Northern European nation on the northeastern edge of the Baltic Sea.

OK, now GM should get Fergie to drive one of those experimental Equinoxes that was blogged about last week!
