Power for EV World? No Problem. How 'bout Entire World? No Problem, Firm Says
By Scott Doggett June 9, 2010
The Shimizu Corporation, a Japanese construction firm, has recently proposed a plan to harness solar energy on a larger scale than almost any previously proposed concept.
Their ambitious plan involves building a belt of solar cells around the Moon's 6,800-mile equator, converting the electricity to powerful microwaves and lasers to be beamed at Earth, and finally converting the beams back to electricity at terrestrial power stations.
The Luna Ring concept, the company says, could meet the entire world's energy needs, including the future needs of Earth's electric vehicles.
And, yes, robots would do most of the work. You can read more about Shimizu's interesting plan at phyorg.com.

As long as you're happy, greenpony, we're happy.
Don't be so quick to tie your happiness to mine. I'd be happy if California fell into the Pacific. Granted, I'd lose my beloved Edmunds.com (assuming your servers are located in CA also), but the overwhelming sense of joy I'd feel at seeing the demise of all that is wrong with this country would outweigh the disappointment over losing this site.
I could make a similar comment about DC, but without any sense of loss whatsoever.
@greenpony
I fail to see any connection to homosexuality.
