Think-into-Brazil.jpgScandinavian electric-vehicle maker Think today announced that it has delivered three City EVs to Brazilian electricity provider CPFL Energia S.A., marking a new collaboration with the utility and the first time Think has shipped a vehicle to South America.

CPFL Energia purchased the EVs as part of the company's drive to electrify its fleet and demonstrate its green commitment.

"Sustainable mobility is fast working its way up the political and environmental agendas here in Brazil, and CPFL wants to be at the forefront of this movement," said CPFL Energia CEO Wilson Pinto Ferreira Junior.

CPFL Energia, with revenues of $6 billion last year, engages in the generation, distribution and commercialization of energy through its many subsidiaries in the Brazilian electricity sector.

As of December 31, 2009, the company had distributed electricity to approximately 6.6 million residential, industrial and commercial customers.

The latest-generation Think City is an all-electric car designed for urban environments. It can travel at highway speeds and cover 100 miles on a single charge via a conventional household outlet, with zero local emissions.

European production of the City EV is underway in Finland with manufacturing partner Valmet Automotive, which also assembles the Boxster and Cayman models for Porsche AG. First customer deliveries are taking place across Europe in selected markets, including The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Austria and Switzerland.
