Nissan Leaf Test Drives to Be Offered Across the United States Starting October 1
By Scott Doggett September 8, 2010You've probably read a lot about it by now. Soon enough you can drive one. The Nissan Leaf, that is.
The all-electric 5-door hatchback will be touring the U.S. for looks and test drives starting October 1st. If you want get behind the wheel of one - if only to tell your great-grandchildren you drove one of the very first mass-produced EVs - you'll want to visit Nissan's Drive Electric Tour Website immediately and reserve a ride.
At the Website you'll find a map showing where and when a Leaf will be available for a test drive. Sadly, test drives won't be offered in most of the U.S. - not on this tour.
If you do make the tour and tell a Leaf representative that you know what "Leaf" stands for (Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable, Family car), he or she will likely be impressed by your EV geekiness. That's a good thing.
The tour starts at the AltCar Expo in Santa Monica, California, and concludes in Nashville, Tennessee, in March.
Now, what does "Leaf" - or LEAF, as Nissan would prefer everyone spell it - stand for?
If you answered that question correctly, you probably know the answer to this one: How many episodes of Star Trek were there? Lest we remind you, the clock is ticking.
