Toyota: Dump Waltrip
By Michelle Krebs April 13, 2007Toyota's entry into the domestically loyal NASCAR circuit has been marred, not only by the poor performance on the track but also by the bad behavior of its driver-partner, Michael Waltrip.
Waltrip's latest shenanigans involve him flipping a Toyota Land Cruiser Saturday morning near his North Carolina home. He faces charges of reckless driving and failing to report an accident when he goes to court May 14.
Earlier this year, he was caught cheating before the Daytona 500. The team received some of the stiffest fines ever given by the circuit.
Besides that, he's dead last in the NASCAR Nextel Cup standings.
Toyota, cut him loose. He's bad for your image.

It’s a bit of a stretch to blame the 55 (new to Nextel Cup Toyota) teams current place in the standings on Michael Waltrip’s driving ability, this guy has won the Daytona 500… twice. As far as “Shenanigans” go, NASCAR has a rich history of teams trying to bend the rules, it not unique to Waltrip, and he is not the sole perpetrator this year (or any other for that matter). Fans love this guy and if they love him, then they love Toyota, it’s the NASCAR Fans modus operandi.
If I recall, it was just a few years ago that Ward Burton, another Daytona 500 winner flipped his SUV late at night…it must be all of those left hand turns.
Just think of all of the press Toyota is getting from his latest shenanigans, and remember the first rule of racing: win or wreck, both get you camera time.
I have a Honda odyssey 2001 that i just bought in november. Every time I stop in a slope the car backs down itself even it's in gear. It's longer depend on the severity of the slope. Is it a transmission problem?
Toyota is in it for the long haul and probably won't be distracted by short term fixes
