Elena Ford Shifts Gears
June 25, 2007
Ford executive Elena Ford has changed jobs. She’s moving from
the car side of the business to financial services.
Effective August 1, Elena Ford will become executive vice president in charge of global brand and marketing at Ford Credit.
She had served as Ford’s director of product marketing, planning and strategy for North America. However, many inside –- and outside –- of the company questioned Elena Ford’s expertise in such a key role during Ford's critical turnaround effort.
The move, while billed by the automaker as a promotion, could just as easily be seen as moving her aside, perhaps a move prompted by new CEO Alan Mulally, brought in by Ford Chairman Bill Ford last fall.
Elena Ford, 41, is the cousin to Bill Ford, the great-great granddaughter of Henry Ford and the granddaughter of Henry Ford II.
