Honda, Toyota Are Most Researched Vehicles in 2007, Edmunds.com Report

Honda and Toyota models dominate the list of vehicles most researched by the 2008_honda_civic_210 13 million people who visited Edmunds.com every month last year.

The Honda Civic and Honda Accord ranked No. 1 and 2, respectively, on Edmunds.com's 2007 list of most researched cars.

Interestingly, despite the many recent new product introductions, most of the vehicles on Edmunds.com's most-researched lists were also among the most researched in 2006.

Newcomers to the 2007 list were the Toyota Prius, Acura MDX along with the Nissan Altima and Toyota Tundra, which were both redesigned for 2007, and the GMC Acadia and Saturn Vue, two new vehicles introduced in 2007.

No longer in the top 10 are the Chevrolet Tahoe, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Toyota Sienna, Toyota Yaris and the Volkswagen Jetta. However, each vehicle stayed within the top 25 most-researched vehicles of 2007 in their respective category.

It would be interesting to see how the top ten cars/suvs were used in the "compare" page and which were compared to which; e.g., was a Toyota Highlander selected for comparison with a Jeep Commander + Nissan Pathfinder + Chevrolet Tahoe? Also, what were the top selection points? Did the majority elect to browse from the "Price Range" or the "Market Segment" box? IMO, one contributing factor for the return of so many '06 vehicles in '07 is there are a lot of data miners (or minors) researching for its own end. I do it all the time; go to the auto show, pick up the ubiquitous Saturn bag, collect every piece of literature from every exhibitor, compare all the front leg rooms, coolant capacities, overall heights ad nauseum. Then I go lease another Mercury- America's best kept secret.
