Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4: More Power, More Sales, More Profits

Volkswagen reported its Lamborghini division doubled its profit in 2007, thanks to strongLamborghini_235 European sales. It anticipates even higher profits in 2008 with the introduction of the new Gallardo LP560-4.

Lamborghini’s pretax profit hit the equivalent of $74 million (47 million in 2007 vs. 18 million euros in 2006). That set a new profit record for Lamborghini and marked its fourth consecutive profitable year since returning to profitability in 2004. Revenues rose 35 percent, and vehicle sales increased 15 percent to a record 2,406 sports cars.

Lamborghini's higher sales are due in part to the fact it is making more cars. The Italian sports carmaker has boosted production to 13 cars a day in 2007, a far cry from the one a day made in 2000.

Lamborghini’s European sales rose 22 percent to 959 cars. North American deliveries rose 8 percent to 1,001 vehicles, the first time Lamborghini surpassed 1,000 vehicles sold in a year in North America.

The company expects another good year this year, predicting a 4 percent rise in sales to 2,500 cars, thanks to the new faster, lighter Gallardo LP560-4, which goes on sale later this year and lists at $198,000.
