New GM Goes High-Tech, High-Touch
July 10, 2009
DETROIT -- The new General Motors will be closer to the customer and will employ high-tech as well as low-tech ways to do so.
Next week, the new GM will launch a "Tell Fritz" Web site that allows consumers and others to send ideas, questions and concerns directly to GM CEO Fritz Henderson.
"I will personally review and respond to some of these every day and will encourage other executives to participate as well," Henderson said at a Friday news conference.
In August, Henderson said he'll hit the road, visiting dealers, employees, suppliers and customers in the U.S. and abroad.
"I've done this throughout my entire career and welcome the opportunity to do it again," he said. "We need to listen to questions, ideas and concerns of the people who matter most and I'm personally committed to be closer and more available to consumers."
On Friday afternoon, Henderson will respond to consumers' questions via Twitter. He and other GM executives held Twitter and other Web chats with consumers last month. Henderson said that high-tech effort will continue.
"We'll be listening to their ideas, and acting on the ones that will improve our ability to serve our customers better," he said.
