New GM Management: Who Goes? Who Stays?
July 10, 2009
DETROIT -- The new General Motors, unveiled Friday, will be leaner particularly at its top
levels, which is begging the questions who goes and who stays?
The North American management structure is completely eliminated. So what happens to high-level, high-profile executives like Troy Clarke, who had held the post of North American president, and Mark LeNeve, who headed sales and marketing for North America.
CEO Fritz Henderson reiterated 35 percent of the U.S. management, largely at the highest levels, will be eliminated. Who goes, who stays and what jobs those who stay will hold will be rolled out by the end of the month.
Henderson said the marketing aspects of GM globally will be headed by Bob Lutz, who has opted not to retire and who will now head all things creative, though a specific title was not given. However, he pointed out, Lutz will not head sales, which will report directly to Henderson. He would only say that LaNeve continues to head sales for now and has sales targets for July to meet. He is also heading the eBay experimen
t for GM.
Henderson was mum on the future of Clarke and others.
