Ford's Europe Share Hits 10 Percent

Ford Fiesta - 248.JPGFord achieved a 10.1-percent market share in September in its primary 19 European markets - the best share for any month since September 2001 - and a 0.8 percentage point increase on September 2008.

Ford sold 51,400 new Ford Fiesta cars in September - the best September for Fiesta since 1994. The Fiesta goes on sale in the U.S. in 2010.

 

Ford had a strong September in a number of European markets:

- In the United Kingdom, Ford's share grew to 15.7 per cent (up by 0.8 percentage points on September 2008) with a volume of 63,500 units - an increase of more than 22 percent from the year-ago September and double the overall market increase for the month.

- In Germany, market share was 8.0 per cent (an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to September 2008) and the best September share since 1999.

- In Turkey, Ford share hit 18.2 percent -- 3.0 percentage points above the same month last year.

In total, Ford sold 152,600 vehicles in September - an increase of 16,700 or 12.3 percent compared with September a year ago and above the market's increase of 2.9 percent.

Ford's share was up in 14 out of 19 markets in September and in 17 of 19 markets year-to-date.
